Backyard Wellness Living began with something we learned through our own lives: rest and recovery aren’t luxuries—they’re essential.

After serving five years in the U.S. Navy and 30 years in the fire service, I understand what it means to spend years in fast-paced, high-stress environments where taking care of yourself often comes second to taking care of everything and everyone else.

My wife’s career followed a similar path. She spent nine years in the fire service before becoming an emergency room nurse and later a Nurse Practitioner. Today, her work in hormone replacement and functional medicine focuses on helping people feel better, stay active, and improve their overall well-being.

Between us, we’ve spent decades in careers centered around helping and caring for others. Along the way, we learned an important lesson: you need a place where you can slow down, recover, reconnect, and simply enjoy life.

That idea became the inspiration for Backyard Wellness Living.
